    Character.

    Character Name: Rose Granger-Weasley
    Character Journal: [info]grangerweasley
    Age/Birthdate: 16, August 5th 2006
    House/Year: Ravenclaw, 6th
    Wand: 8", unicorn hair, birch
    Bloodline: Half-blood.
Why were they sorted into this House? Rose takes after her mother when it comes to those qualities that revolve around lessons. She's intelligent, she's quick, and she studies a lot more often than most of her cousins. She doesn't like to be uninformed, which leaves her only one option: read everything, and anything, that falls into her hands.
Physical Description. Brown eyes, brown hair. Rose has always felt that she looks the very epitome of plain. Worse than that, her hair is almost completely unmanagable. She has to wake up at least two hours before leaving her dormitory in order to tame it even to a small degree, which often leaves her cranky in the mornings from a lack of sleep. (Late night studying in combination with early morning rising is never a good thing.) She's only 5'2, which is a major hindrance in her opinion. People don't have as much authority or presence when they're smaller. If she were taller, perhaps people would pay more attention, rather than thinking her just a little girl. She likes to wear nice clothes. Matching clothes. Admittedly, most of her clothing choices come from Teen Witch or her female cousins, as she doesn't have a sense of fashion... She just tries to. She often makes mistakes, leaving her looking a little bit odd, rather than like a girl with fashion sense.
    PB: Tamsin Egerton
Sexual Orientation: The girl prefers boys, although she's quick to lecture anyone who taunts a girl for choosing to be with the same sex.
    Personality:
If you asked just about any adult Weasley (or Potter) about their little Rosie, they'd respond quickly that she was one bright girl. A good head on her shoulders. Serious. Studious. Responsible. It's true that she's incredibly persistent in her studies, that she reads all that she can get her fingers on, that she's incredibly curious. However, that's only one facet of her personality. While it’s true that Rose can often be found studying, she’s also rather fond of other sorts of books. Fiction novels – romances, to be precise – and she’s a diehard reader of Teen Witch. Not an issue goes by that she hasn’t read as soon as she can get her hands on it! These aren’t really the things that she advertises about herself, though, as Rose prefers people to think of her intelligent side, not her silly, girly teenager side.

Unlike her mother, Rose is generally concerned with her appearance. She spends a few hours in the morning attempting to tame her hair (despite the fact that it only works about half the time) and is careful about choosing clothing when she’s not in uniform. Admittedly, she doesn’t have much fashion sense, relying on female cousins as well as Teen Witch to choose her outfits. When left to her own devices, she often gets it all wrong and looks a bit like a fashion reject. Her skills with make up, on the other hand, are pretty decent. Perhaps because she treats it more like a science experiment, whereas clothes are completely lost on her.

Rose is a fairly confident girl when it comes to most things. She never has a problem sharing her opinions, lecturing a stranger, or telling a friend (or family member) off for doing something stupid or inappropriate. She’s got certain morals and ideals which she follows and isn’t afraid of getting mocked for. She believes herself to be smart and isn’t very modest about it. She’s confident in school, she’s confident in her opinions, but… she’s not very confident when it comes to certain things. She’s self-conscious about the way she dresses, about the way she looks. Her confidence dwindles a little in social situations, although she’s able to handle herself for the most part. Particularly when a close friend or family member is around, as they tend to boost her confidence level back up to normal. She’s completely inept when it comes to flirting and blokes. So, instead of attempting to flirt… if there’s a bloke she likes, she simply treats them the same as any other bloke. It’s the easiest way for her, as otherwise it could turn out rather embarrassing.

One of the things that Rose inherited from her father is a wicked temper. When someone does something that’s against her morals, or against her opinions, she tends to lash out. For example, Rose is quite the feminist. She believes women are QUITE able to do things on their own, thanks, without the help of blokes. When someone appears to be acting in a ridiculous manner – such as a girl, in the process of flirting, acting like she can’t manage something on her own – Rose tends to lecture, and get annoyed, and frustrated. It’s just so… infuriating! One of the ways to get her temper going is to insult one of her family members. That’s just not on. The only people who can insults the Weasleys (or Potters) are the Weasleys (and Potters). Family can insult family, but nobody else, thanks! Rose Weasley always believes in the idea of payback. If someone insults her family, or does something else to piss her off, she’s likely to get revenge. Whether the revenge is in the form of an ugly insult or a prank, well, that depends on the severity of the crime and what sort of mood the girl’s in. When it comes to pranking, Rose generally recruits her cousins in the process, which is part of the reason why she tries not to go down that road too often. It’s one thing to risk getting detention herself, but her cousins get enough trouble by themselves.

When Rose was nine years old, she found out that her mother had originally been called Hermione Granger. While most children wouldn’t really think twice about it, Rose questioned her mother on why her last name had been changed. The fact that Hermione had adopted her husband’s last name didn’t sit well with Rose. Why should a woman have to give up her name – her identity! – simply because she married some bloke? So, from that point on, Rose requested that everyone call her Rose Granger-Weasley. If she was going to have her father’s last name, she felt she should carry her mother’s as well.

Rose is usually tactful. She knows when to say something and when to not say something. The exception, usually, is when she’s surprised by something. Occasionally she simply says the first thing that pops into her mind, which is usually not such a great idea. She tries to hold such random thoughts in, but… when someone surprises you with information, or says something completely unexpected, it’s awful hard to hold your tongue.
    Family:
    Ron Weasley, father.
Relationship: Rose loves her father, really, she does, but she doesn't admire him nearly as much as her mother. That's definitely something she keeps to herself, however, as she doesn't want to hurt his feelings. She thinks that they would probably be much closer if she'd had any sort of interest in Quidditch growing up, but the fact that she constantly zoned out during his Quidditch babblings (which he did quite a lot of) didn't really create a closer bond. They're still close, simply not as close as she is with her mother.
    Hermione Weasley, mother.
Relationship: Rose adores her mother. She's the most intelligent, witty, and amazing woman that the girl knows. She's always wanted to grow up to be just like her. To this day, she still thinks it would be pretty wonderful to wind up like her Mum. Despite having entered the teenage years, Rose is still apt to tell her mum most of what goes on in her life. It's easy to talk to her, although there are a few things that Rose keeps secret.
Hugo Weasley & cousins: I'd like to wait until she's in game to detail these (and in Hugo's case, until he's picked up by someone) as I don't want to ASSUME the way she'll interact with people.
    Personal History:
Ronald Weasley and Hermione Granger were a match made in… well, perhaps not Heaven, but they did compliment each other quite well. Having been together since school, it was little surprise to anyone when the pair were married. It was a little more shocking when Hermione wound up pregnant the first time, merely because most had assumed they’d put off having kids longer in lieu of Hermione’s work. Nobody had ever thought they’d be eager to start the family. However, when Rose was born, Hermione couldn’t have been happier. Every single Weasley made a comment on the fact that her hair was brown, like Hermione’s, rather than the expected Weasley red. Such comments were made in jest, however, as everyone was pleased to see the addition of a Weasley child to the family. No Weasley was ever disappointed to have yet another niece, nephew, or grandchild, after all.

Rose was three when the first sign of magic arrived. One of the neighboring children was harassing their owl, so little Rose (accidentally, mind!) caused blisters to sprout all over the child’s hands. Whoops. It was about then that they realized their little girl’s temper was worse than they’d originally thought. Luckily, Hermione had caught onto what was going on and healed the child’s hands before he returned home to babble to his mother about that crazy Weasley girl. (Admittedly, a little memory charm had been put in place as well, despite Hermione’s reluctance to mess with someone’s memory.) At four, Rose had learned how to read. Picture books, with few words, but it was still one of the coolest things ever in the little girl’s eyes. From that day on, she was constantly reading more and more things. When she came to a word she didn’t understand, Hermione was the first person she went to. She’d gone to her Da a few times, but he wasn’t very good at explaining words in a way she could understand.

Rose’s childhood went by in a flash. Most of it spent either reading, playing with her cousins, or picking Hermione’s brain. She was unsurprised (albeit thrilled) to receive her Hogwart’s letter in the mail upon turning eleven. Her parents took her out for ice cream to celebrate, followed up with a trip to the pet shop. Every little girl needs a familiar (who’s really just a pet), right? Her father tried to convince her that she wanted an owl, but… as Rose remembered it, her mum had a cat in school. In her desire to be similar to her mum, Rose chose a small orange kitten and named him Ellipses. Ellipses quickly became her best, and favorite, companion today. In prior times, she’d had all sorts of goldfish, mice, and insects for pets. None of which had lasted long, nor been very fun.

Entering Hogwarts was bizarre. She’d never had access to quite so many books before, despite Hermione’s best efforts, and she’d never been around so many children outside of her cousins. The playful teasing of her cousins was quickly replaced by the cruel teasing of classmates. Not that everyone teased her, but she’d never been exposed to truly hurtful teasing before. It had always been of a light, playful sort. The adjustment period might have taken her a little longer than most, as she hadn’t expected it to be so… tough. She’d thought of Hogwarts as the next adventure. As something bound to be amazing, insightful, and all around fun. She’d expected it to be a breeze, honestly, and hadn’t expected the homesickness. Nor the harshness of some of the children.

Upon adapting, however, things got much better for Rose. She made friends, remembered her cousins, remembered her ideals. She regained confidence by the end of first year, stopped feeling homesick, and began to truly enjoy school as she’d originally hoped to. Years whirled by. In fifth year, she became a prefect. It was a honor that she was incredibly pleased to have. Rose never hesitated to take points away from a student who was misbehaving, or mouthing off. After all, she was given the power to take away points for a reason, wasn’t she? It only made sense to take advantage of that power.

Sixth year was bound to be her best adventure yet. It was time to prepare for NEWTs, time to explore things a little more. It was bound to be far more interesting than any of the previous years, if only because now there’d be challenges. What kind of Ravenclaw wouldn’t love that sort of a thing?
Classes: She's better at classes where studying is the main thing. She's great with theory, with essays, all of that. She's not as good with wandwork, but constant practicing enables her to get it after a little work. She adores Potions, which she's brilliant at. She has to work much harder at Transfiguration, Charms, etc.
Plans for character: Mmm, none yet!

    Samples.

    Sample RP:
A shower was just what Rose had needed after spending the afternoon knee high in dirt. Herbology was interesting, yes, but it was also rather filthy. Not that she minded getting dirty for the sake of her education, but a prompt shower had been required to keep from feeling like a little beggar girl. With a satisfied smile, Rose hopped out of the shower and reached for her towel. Bugger. Someone had grabbed it. They’d probably been in a rush and grabbed the wrong one, which meant another towel would be around here somewhere…

Not a one in sight. That was odd. Why would her towel simply disappear…? Oh well, her clothes would survive even if she didn’t dry off before pulling them on. It could be a little uncomfortable, but she didn’t particularly feel like drip drying for an hour before getting dressed. Reaching for her clothes, her fingers scrabbled along tiles without finding purchase. What? She’d hung her clothes right there! No one could accidentally grab the wrong clothes, she hadn’t had a uniform hanging there! That meant… but… no, why would someone nab her clothing? Her towel? It made no sense. She hadn’t upset anyone recently.

Or had she? She supposed that Hufflepuff could have been upset at the way she’d lectured them about their boyfriend. But it wasn’t Rose’s fault that the bloke was a complete creep. She’d simply tried to convince the girl to see reason, to realize that she was too good for a piece of scum like that. What was wrong with that? Crossing her arms over her chest, Rose ducked back into the shower. Although she’d love to solve this problem herself, she was simply going to have to wait it out. Eventually, someone would come in and she could ask them to fetch her some clothes. Saving herself, in this particular case, was not an option.
    Sample Journal Entry:
I must say, I'm excited about this first challenge. I've been holed up in the library with books on magical creatures all week. With no luck yet, but eventually I'll have to stumble across something. The answer couldn't possibly be impossible to find within the walls of Hogwarts, therefore there must be some tidbit, somewhere, that will reveal the answer.

Good luck to the rest of you!
